STEPS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE GIRLS & BOYS PROJECTS
The Girls & Boys Projects trains adults in schools and community-based organizations to implement our programs for girls & boys in gender-separate settings. There are three sets of curricula (elementary, middle and high school) consisting of 25-30 units which may be used in after-school, advisory, or elective periods. These are the steps:
-
STEP 1: ASSESSMENT
We meet with stakeholders (youth, directors, principals, counselors, parent coordinators, CBO leaders and staff) to identify the issues their young people are facing and to design a training program that fits the needs of their organization.
-
STEP 2: TRAINING
Conducted on-site, our trainings provide information about our methodology and program content. Through participating in workshops, trainees gain experience and insight into the goals and approach of the program.
-
STEP 3: SUPPORT
We provide on-site, email and phone support to anyone implementing our programs. We are constantly updating our resources and curriculum materials and notify facilitators of any changes or additions.
-
STEP 4: LEARNING COMMUNITY
We offer GirlTalk and BoyTalk workshops for like-minded educators to come together to learn more about a particular topic and share ideas. We also facilitate communication via our e-Newsletter The Gender Lens, our Blogs and here on our website.
-
STEP 5: EVALUATION
A crucial part of keeping our programs relevant and cutting edge is to obtain feedback from facilitators and youth participants in our programs. We do this through face-to-face meetings, emails and surveys (online and off).
